firm was created in 2010 as a collaboration between
Brian J. Smith, a Las Vegas attorney, and Michael P.
O’Rourke, the managing attorney of the Seattle office.
The two partners founded the firm with the intention of
serving the Thai community in the western United States,
and opened the Bangkok office as a way of creating a
bridge between the Kingdom of Thailand and the USA.

that the sizable Thai community in Las Vegas had been
previously underserved by the legal market. By offering
a full range of legal services, including immigration
law, business law, bankruptcy, real estate, trusts,
family law, criminal law and more, we intend to make
sure that our friends in the Thai community will have
access to the highest quality legal work here in the
USA. In addition, our Bangkok branch will focus on legal
consulting to American firms doing business in Thailand,
and Thai companies who wish to do business in the United
States, or who are already doing so. Of course, we will
also be available to the Thai people for questions or
issues relating to American immigration law,” said Khun
Brian. “We have been very fortunate to be able to avail
ourselves of the excellent relations between the Kingdom
and the USA in setting up our Bangkok office. We now
have a foreign business license in Thailand and are
gradually becoming known in the Bangkok business
community. Among our first clients in Thailand is
Everest Asia, which has many diverse business interests
and is owned by the Srichawla family. Our future plans
include naming a Thai lawyer as a director in our
Bangkok office. We will then be able to offer a complete
range of legal services in Thailand.”

Brian and Khun Michael travelled to Bangkok in early
March to complete the necessary formalities for the
opening of their office. “While in Bangkok, we were
fortunate to be invited to a dinner to celebrate
Government Appreciation Day, which was sponsored by the
American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand,” said Khun
Brian. “We listened to remarks by both the American
ambassador to Thailand and by HE Prime Minister Abhisit
Vejjajiva. What struck us both, as newcomers to
Thailand, are the extraordinarily close relations
between our two countries. The ‘Creative Partnership’
between Thailand and the USA, which was celebrated at
the dinner, continues to be a tremendous opportunity and
benefit to both the Thai and the American people.”
always remember that we are guests in Thailand. And like
good guests we will strive to make the best possible
impression on our hosts. We have come to Thailand with
open hearts and good intentions, and we look forward to
being there for many years to come.”
